Our Story
How We Met
Chelsea and Shehab's story began on a sunny afternoon at a beach on Lake Washington, in the summer of 2021. Both of them had just started venturing into public spaces after receiving their Covid vaccinations. It was Chelsea who made the first move, walking up to Shehab and sparking a conversation that instantly clicked. What started as a casual chat soon turned into something special as they discovered they could talk about anything, loved trying new restaurants and creating their own delicious meals, and that they shared an active lifestyle. Their connection grew effortlessly, and before long, they became close friends. Now, nearly four years later, that friendship has blossomed into a deep love.
The Proposal
Shehab wanted to make the proposal unique and special for Chelsea, so he built a custom website full of riddles for her to solve. He was inspired by a childhood story of Chelsea's, where she would play with her younger sister, McKenzie. Chelsea would pretend to be Batman, and McKenzie was dubbed "Joey". (Why wasn't she Robin? We will never know. All we know is Shehab thought this was hilarious). Shehab was able to recreate Batman's voice using AI, so when Chelsea got on the computer, Batman's voice informed her the Riddler had stolen her ring, and requested her help solving the riddles to find its location. After solving several puzzles (and having to call "Joey" for help on one of them), Chelsea was armed with a location- the beach where she and Shehab had first met. When they arrived, a small box was discovered hidden in the sand- a ring! Shehab got down on one knee, Chelsea said yes, and the rest is history.
